Gary James Martone
Attorney Gary Martone has practiced disability law since 1968, beginning with representation of clients at administrative hearings and doing research for court cases for the San Francisco Neighborhood Assistance Foundation, until relocating to Albuquerque in 1971. From 1971 to 1980, Gary worked at the Legal Aid Society of Albuquerque, and was its executive director from 1976 to August 1980. It was his experience at Legal Aid in assisting individuals with state disability benefits that captured Gary’s interest in further helping the disabled community in New Mexico.
Gary then briefly entered private practice with the law firm of Wheeler & Associates. He was well-known in the community from his Legal Aid days and would receive numerous referrals from other attorneys to represent Social Security disability claimants. It is this kind of work he found most rewarding.
From August 1980 to the present, Gary has focused his time on representation of disability claimants throughout New Mexico. He incorporated the Martone Law Firm, P.A. in 1985. For nearly four decades Gary has traveled throughout the state of New Mexico to represent disability claimants in rural areas with limited options for attorneys experienced in Social Security disability claims.
With the addition of his daughter, attorney Feliz Martone, to the practice in 2008, Gary has focused on developing cases for administrative hearings with Administrative Law Judges. Gary and Feliz work closely on cases, so clients generally get the benefit of two attorneys working on their case with no additional fees.
Gary enjoys keeping an active lifestyle and loves the New Mexico climate. He has completed several hundred-mile cycling tours throughout the U.S. and Canada; he currently spends the crisp mornings riding along the bosque trails, and in the evenings walking his dogs. His home is lively on the weekends, with the addition of grandchildren coming over to play.
Gary has established a family-friendly atmosphere at Martone Law Firm, and believes in providing excellent service to our clients, providing a benefit to the community, and maintaining a healthy work-life balance.
